The process of becoming a registered play therapist through the Association for Play Therapy (APT) can be overwhelming. Learn what you need to know to get started. This workshop will orient you to the three-stage process so you can gain the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to fulfill the requirements of an RPT or SB-RPT status.

The first half of the workshop is devoted to the nuts and bolts of the credentialing process including:

  • The basic requirements laid out by stage
  • University based programs vs APT approved providers – pros and cons of each route
  • Budgeting, realistic cost expectations, making use of low fee and free offerings
  • Choosing and locating trainings
  • Finding good fit supervision
  • Accruing experience hours

The second half of the workshop focuses on you, the play therapist and includes self-assessment tools to support understanding of:

  • Your theoretical orientation
  • Your clinical strengths
  • Areas of need for training and skill building
  • Your personal play therapy superpower
